The Costs of Dental Bridge Treatment
By Steven Kail on August 21, 2015
There are few things (if any) that affect the health or aesthetics of the smile more than tooth loss. Fortunately, when adult teeth are lost, there are many restorative dentistry treatments that can improve oral health and function by replacing missing teeth with strong dental restorations. While the most appropriate treatment will be determined based on a number of factors, in general, if there is a single tooth or a small group of teeth missing from the same area of the mouth, a dental bridge is a great treatment option. A dental bridge fills in the gap left by missing teeth with a durable restoration that is designed to blend in with the natural teeth. Dental bridge costs vary for our Jackson patients, but our dentists can discuss some of the factors that will determine the final cost of treatment.
There are many variables involved when a patient is undergoing dental bridge treatment. Patients have options regarding the type of material that will be used for the dental bridge (porcelain, resin, etc.), our dentists must consider if any additional treatments are necessary (it is important for adjacent teeth to be healthy), and dental crowns have to be placed on either side of the bridge. All of these factors will go into determining the cost of dental bridge treatment, as will the experience and location of the dentist.
Because of the many factors that affect dental bridge treatment, there is a wide range in the average price of dental bridge treatment. Patients can expect a dental bridge to cost anywhere from $700 and $1,500 per tooth. Of course, if a dental bridge is being used to fill a gap left by multiple missing teeth, the cost of treatment will increase accordingly. While dental bridge treatment can be costly, it does drastically improve the strength, function, and beauty of the smile. Patients should also consider that dental bridges are extremely durable. With proper care, a dental bridge should last 10 to 20 years, making it a worthwhile investment over time.
Will Insurance Cover Treatment?
With the significant cost of dental bridge treatment, it is good to know that most insurance companies will provide at least partial coverage for this procedure. Our staff will work with insurance providers to determine what, if any, coverage is available so that patients have a clear understanding of the out-of-pocket expenses of dental bridge treatment.
If the out-of-pocket expense after insurance coverage has been applied is still too much of a financial burden for our patients, there are other financing options to consider. Patients may wish to consider a personal line of credit or a CareCredit plan to spread out the expense of dental bridge treatment into affordable monthly payments.
