Thanks to developments in Invisalign® manufacturing and technology, the treatment is now appropriate for a wider range of patients than ever. If you or your teen is considering Invisalign®, Dr. Kail, Leonard, or Arnold will provide a complete evaluation. Your dentist will consider the current alignment of your teeth, your lifestyle, and your budget. Then he can determine whether Invisalign® is the most appropriate treatment for you. To find out if you are a good candidate for Invisalign®, contact our Jackson, TN practice today.

Invisalign®: A Basic Overview

When you undergo Invisalign®, your dentist will take computerized impressions of your teeth. The 3-D models will go to an Invisalign® lab. There, technicians will create a sequence of aligner trays made just for you. Because each tray will have a slightly different shape, they will put a gentle force on your teeth. The slight pressure will gradually shift your teeth into proper alignment. For best results, you should wear the aligners 20 to 22 hours a day. Total treatment time can vary, but many patients complete their Invisalign® regimen in about a year.

Invisalign® and Your Orthodontic Needs

Invisalign® can address both cosmetic issues and major misalignment. You may be a candidate for treatment if you struggle with any of the following concerns:

  • Crooked teeth
  • Gapped teeth
  • Rotated teeth
  • Tipped teeth
  • An overbite
  • An underbite
  • A crossbite
  • An open bite

Please not that particularly severe misalignment may require traditional orthodontic care.

Invisalign® and Your Lifestyle Goals

Invisalign® can be a fantastic solution if you want straighter teeth, but you may worry about the effect that metal braces will have on your life. For example, if you are a working adult, you may feel self-conscious making an important presentation while wearing braces. If your teen is preparing for prom or graduation, the thought of orthodontic treatment may have put him or her on edge. With Invisalign®, you can enjoy straighter teeth. At the same time, however, almost no one will realize that you are undergoing orthodontic treatment.

Invisalign® can also be a good option for teens who play sports or musical instruments. The smooth, removable aligners will be less likely to interfere with your child’s hobbies.

Invisalign® and Your Dedication to Treatment

Because Invisalign® trays are removable, the treatment takes a certain level of dedication. Before choosing this option, you should be honest with yourself. Are you likely to forget to wear your aligners or to lose interest halfway through your treatment? As a parent, you should also consider your teen’s maturity level and sense of responsibility before allowing him or her to undergo Invisalign®.

Invisalign® and Your Budget

Invisalign® typically costs about the same as traditional braces. Keep in mind, too, that insurance may cover all or part of the cost of treatment. Your dentist will take your budget into consideration when determining whether Invisalign® is right for you. We also offer several discount and financing options. We will explain insurance and payments at your first appointment.
